BYOC Review Process Thoughts / Ideas

TIMELINE
  • If you are comfortable with the proposed timeline, there is no need to contact me
  • If you have an alternate plan/suggestion for getting your courses into the BYOC tool and leading your teams through the conversations, let’s meet. Based on your needs, ultimately we would like for you to be in a good place with having at least 4 courses reviewed by May 2012. However, how you get there is terms of a timeline, is quite flexible. If you have another thought, please share with us.

TEAM STRUCTURE (DEPARTMENTS working together)
  • The teams were designed around similar outcomes / performance indicators as well as K-12 structure
  • One of the reasons we want you to work with other departments is that there is great power in sharing the thinking with the group and there is always the possibility to connect with others and their ideas
INTERNAL / EXTERNAL TEAM STRUCTURE (COLLECTIVE)
  • Get ideas from one another
  • See similarities and commonalities among departments (school district vs. district of schools/departments)
  • Best Practice (Protocols, Research on PLC and Collaboration)
  • We place great value on the collaborative component of this work

CRITIQUE
  • The use of protocols will guide the process so that you all will have an idea of what information will be looked at
  • The intent is not to be harsh critique but rather pose possibilities and ideas
  • Inquiry-based philosophy
  • Curiosity(our model)
  • Effective oral / written communication - This is a skill we want to instill in our students and we are working to foster it among ourselves

TIME FOR REVIEW / EARLY RELEASE / PD STRUCTURE

    • 2:50 - 3:00 logistics
    • 3:00 - 4:00
      • curriculum/BYOC work if not part of the review
      • review team
    • submit a log highlighting what’s been worked on (Google form that Ann will create)
    • We can evaluate how this is going for second semester
  • ½ day PD allocation for each CLT leader NEW! SUGGESTION FOR MORE TIME 2012-13
    • work on a course with up to 2 additional colleagues (up to 4 hours)
    • one PD 1/2 day allocation for the 2012-2013 school year per department
  • 2011-2012 school year (6 ER days = 3.5 hrs X 6 days = 21 hours)
  • 2012-2013 school year (summer + CLT + PD = 21 hours; ER days = 14; total 35 hours)
